Doris Faye Smith (Nonamaker), 83, of Alameda, Calif., entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 2, 2007. She was born March 31, 1924, in Smith County, Kansas, to the late Charles and Frances Nonamaker of Chester, W.Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, retired Lt. Commander (USN) Joseph C. Smith, a native of Hookstown, Pa., and sons, Douglas C. Smith and William C. Smith.

A longtime native of Alameda, Calif., Doris was an avid genealogist and spent considerable time researching the various family branches of her and her husband's family lineage and was associated with numerous Genealogy Societies around the country. She was active for over 50 years in the Navy Wives Clubs of America and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by her grandsons, Joseph C. Smith II and Douglas C. Smith II, and her great-grandsons, Joseph C. Smith III and Douglas C. Smith III, all of California, and her sister, Wilda O. Bailey, of Arvada, Colo.

Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the WELCH FUNERAL HOME, Hookstown, Pa.

The family prefers contributions be made to the American Heart Association or the American Stroke Association.

Interment will be in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Beaver County, Pa.
