Harry R. Moore, 82, of Stowe, was called home to be with God on June 25, 2010.
Born in Montgomeryville, PA, he was the son of William H. and Sallie (Heavner) Moore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Robert and John (Bumps); son, Harry Dean, and grandson, Jonathan. He was the husband of Arlene (Mann) Moore of Stowe.
He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church of Pottstown.
Harry served as a Cpl. in the U.S. Army and was in charge of the military garage, while serving in Germany, at the end of WWII.
He also served in the U.S. Navy as an aircraft mechanic, working mainly on HELLCAT fighter planes.
Several of Harry's jobs included working in factories, serving in the Pottstown Auxiliary Police and being a Supervisor for Burns Security. His most recent job, before retiring, was a truck driver for Mrs. Smith Pies.
Once he retired, Harry enjoyed delivering flowers for Moores Flowers located in the Coventry Mall in Pottstown.
Harry had earned the title 'Mayor of Anthony Wayne Drive' by being the first one to welcome all new neighbors. He was very active in the community by helping the children with their bikes, mowing lawns and shoveling snow for neighbors or whoever needed help. He also enjoyed driving around the neighborhood on his riding mower seeing the neighbors and keeping an eye on things.
Along with his loving wife of 59 years, Arlene, are three sons, Gary and his wife, Donna (Johnson), of Birdsboro, Ronald and his wife, Wendy (Nuss), of Emmaus and Thomas Sr. and his wife, Christine (Winters), of Layton, Utah. He also had two daughters, Terri, wife of Carl Stoltz, of Phoenixville and Sharon, companion of Jim Reitnauer, of Stowe. Residing with them was a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Wieand.
Also surviving are a brother, Howard of Chalfont and a sister, Margaret Cressman of Hawaii.
Harry was also blessed with 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin Street, Pottstown with Rev. John Smolik officiating.
Burial will follow in Pottstown Cemetery West, Pottstown.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
