Lois May Lohmann, 90, formerly of Salem, died Sunday, January 31, 1999, at Skaggs Community Hospital in Branson, Missouri. Born August 15, 1908, in Salem, she was the daughter of Ernest and Grace Frary Breazeale. On May 19, 1945, she married Edward Lohmann in Ames. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Lohmann received her education in Henry County schools and graduated from Salem High School. After attending business college, she worked as a medical secretary at Iowa State University in Ames. After her marriage, she and her husband moved to Chicago and later moved to Milwaukee, where they lived for many years. In 1970, Lois and Edward moved to Branson. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Branson.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan Newman of Branson and Pawling, New York; one sister, Neva Payne of Mount Pleasant; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
There will be no visitation.
The funeral for Mrs. Lohmann will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, with the Reverend Dave Legge officiating. Burial will be in Salem East Cemetery.

5 Geneva "Neva" Medenhall Payne, 95, of Mount Pleasant, formally of Salem, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, at Sunnybrook in Mount Pleasant.
Born Nov. 7, 1910, east of Salem, she was the daughter of Earnest W. and Grace Frary Breazeale. On July 4, 1929, she married Everette "Peg" Mendenhall. He died June 14, 1962. She later married Raymond "Hook" Payne on Oct. 9, 1963. He died March 27, 1987.
She was a graduate of Salem High School and was a lifelong member of Salem Congregational Church. She helped on the farm, worked briefly at the Henry County Hospital and sold Avon for 37 years. She retired in 2003. She enjoyed shopping, fishing and watching horse racing.
Survivors include two sons, Harold Mendenhall and Robert Mendenhall, both of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Christine Baldridge of Fairfield; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Salem Congregational Church, with family meeting friends from 2 to 4 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Payne will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Salem Congregational Church, with the Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating. Burial will be Salem East Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Salem Congregational Church, Hospice of Central Iowa and Friends of Conservation in Henry County.
