Mr. Bunney was another of the Civil War veterans, who lived in Logan county. He too had been a prisoner of war. It was his duty on Memorial Day to lead the parade as we children lined up with our assets of flowers. At each veterans grave, he stopped and saluted and stood at attention as he called Comrade (name) then each of us passed by and placed a flower on the grave.

The remains of Mrs. Catherine Rockwood, who died at her home in Marionville, Mo., Thursday,Jan. 16, arrived here Saturday. Brief funeral services at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H.H. Belding, were in charge of Rev. Glen McMichael.
Catherine Bunney was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., March 2, 1845. She was married to James Rockwood at Waucoma in 1870. He preceded her in death by eleven years.
One daughter died in infancy. Surviving members are her daughter Mrs. H.H. Belding of Waucoma, Mrs. Ashton House of Marionville, Mo., and one son, C.B. Rockwood, Sapulpa, Okla. Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rockwood of Spulpa, Okla., Mrs. James Clark of Esterville, Mr. and Mrs. Ashton House of Marionville, Mo., and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Glime of Arlington.

Allen, Gailen Phillips, Age 85, was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, July 3, 2003. Born July 23, 1917, in Lansing, the son of James and Effie (Cross) Allen. In his younger years Gailen liked to fish and hunt and being out-of-doos, enjoying his garden and sharing with neighbors. He worked for the Board of Water and Light in Lansing before serving in the Army Air Force in 1943 and after 4 1/2 years of service, he returned to work, retiring March 1, 1978. He married Loris A. Disler on August 20, 1949 and they have 3 sons. Gailen and Loris joined the Spiritual Episcopal Church in Lansing in 1954 and moved to Eaton Rapids in 1957. Surviving are his wife of 53 years Loris; 3 sons, Jimmie of Lansing, Gary and John of Charlotte; several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be Monday, July 17, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. from the Spiritual Episcopal Church, 141 Frost St., Eaton Rapids. For those desiring memorial gifts may be made to the Eaton Rapids Spiritual Episcopal church in memory of Gailen P. Allen. Arrangements were made through the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids.
