Born on May 8, 1936 in Cortland, NY, to Daisy M. Barber and Henry T. Sovocool, Ron spent his entire life in the Groton area except for seven years when he lived in Virgil, NY, where he proudly served as a member of the Virgil Fire Department. Married to Laura G. Smith on September 15, 1956, he was employed as a Production Supervisor at Smith Corona until 1993. Following his retirement from Smith Corona, he spent the next 16 years driving and maintaining school buses for Groton Central Schools. He and his wife, Laura, established Step'n Hi Stables in 1974, producing many champion Arabian horses. Working tirelessly to keep everything that needed to be accomplished done, he thoroughly enjoyed seeing the fruits of his labor in the show ring. His second loves in life were hunting with his son, Randy, and boating with his son, Mark.

He is survived by his wife...., a sister....., his sons ....., a daughter...... Ron is also survived by five grandsons....., and two granddaughters......

He is predeceased by a sister, Elaine Sovocool Henry (George Henry), and a grandson, Jeffrey Decker.

The family will host friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23rd, at Shurtleff Funeral Home, 103 Lincoln Ave, Groton, NY.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 24th, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be at the Groton Rural Cemetery immediately following.

An avid animal lover, contributions in his honor may be made to the SPCA of Cortland or Tompkins County.

EDITH M. CLARK, age 80, of 141 Dryden-Harford Road, Dryden, NY passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011 at the Cortland Memorial Nursing Facility. Edith was born May 25, 1931 in Moravia, NY a daughter, and one of eleven children, of the Late Emmett and Violet Sherman Sovocool. On July 5, 1952 she was married to George Clark at Freeville. Most of all, Edith enjoyed the family that she and George raised. Being with family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought tremendous joy to her.

She was a member of the Groton and Moravia Senior Citizens and enjoyed traveling. Edith was a day care provider for many years and was the bookkeeper and partner for Clark Builders.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, George H. Clark, Sr., her children, Marie E. Moore of Freeville, George H. (Lorraine) Clark of Tully and Susan (Donald) Foote of Dryden; grandchildren, Heather (Kevin Dean) Hollister, Jolene Hollister, Cassie (Blake) Houghton, Steven and Amy Moore, Andrew (Melissa King) Clark and Christopher Clark; her great-grandchildren, Nicholas Hollister, Lauralye Caskey, Justin Dean, Charlette Houghton; a step-grandson, Chris Dean; her siblings, Norma Slade, Emmett Clifford Sovocool and Hilda Peterson; sisters-in-law, Jean, Shirley and Kathy Sovocool, and a brother-in-law, Paul Crouch and very close friends, Carol Gerow and Cornelia Evans. She was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, Richard, Ralph, Carlton and Jay Sovocool, Neva Barhite, Vera Burlingame and Elizabeth Crouch; a son-in-law, Steven Moore and a great-grandson, Nathanial Caskey and close friends Neal and Purlena Grays.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, August 25, 20011 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. David C. Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery, Dryden. "Bud" Burlingame, III. age 75, of West Main St., Marathon, NY died Monday, January22, 2001 at the Cortland Memorial Hospital. Bud was born June 17, 1925 at Cortland NY a son of the late Alanson D. and Florence Stevens Burlingame. "Burley" served in the US Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during WWII. He was retired from the Town of Dryden Highway Department in 1980 and previously by the village of Dryden and Borden's Milk Processing Plant. He was a resident of Dryden for many years and was a member of the Dryden Fire Department. He resided at Yogi's Campgrounds and assisted with the maintenance there proir to relocating to Main Street.

Steven Michael (Moose) (Vadir) Moore was a Farmer/ Truck Driver.2 Steven Michael Moore, 49, of Freeville, NY, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at Cortland Regional Medical Center after an almost three year battle with cancer. Steve, who was fondly known as "Moose" or "Vadir", spent most of his life loving and caring for people and life. He lived in Groton and Freeville all of his life and was a 1978 graduate of Groton High School. In 1980 he joined the W.B. Strong Vol, Fire Company and Rescue Squad where he was a member for many years. Steve held every available company office, including being Fire Chief from 1991 to 1995, and recently was awarded life membership status. On April 16, 1993, he was married to the former Marie Clark. Steve worked for many farms, including Wargo's, Demond's. Sweeney's, and Marquis' to name a few. After farming, Steve changed to truck driving and operated everything from fire trucks to tractor trailors, but his first choice was the dump truck. He drove for several companies, most recently with Murdock's Excavation where he worked with his uncle and cousin. Prior to that he worked for Case Trucking and CEC Trucking, where he worked for Clara Tyky Case, a woman that he held with the highest regard.

Steve is survived, loved and will always be missed by his wife, Marie; his children who he loved and was always so proud of, Steven G. and Amy of Freeville, Heather, Jolene and Cassie Hollister. "Grandpa Steve" is survived by the grandchildren he loved so much, Nicolas, Nathaniel and Lauralye; his brother, George; a sister, Diane (Dean) Williamson and thier children, Patrick and Lisia; brother, Ron (Theresa) Moore and their children, Rena, Audrey, Theodore and Richard. Also surviving are extended family members, George and Edith Clark, Sue and Donnie Foote, George and Lorraine Clark including their family, Andrew (Melissa King) Clark, and Christopher Clark. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins survive. Steve was predeceased by his parents, George and Dorothy Murdock Moore,; grandparents, George Moore, Sr. and "Gram's" Rena Moore, Willard and Julia Murdock; grandma, Purlena Grays; and his future son-in-law, Evan Wade.

A celebration of Steve's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008, at the Perkins Funeral Home. Steve's family will be present to receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
