1 Bernard Kirby, age 82, of Moulton, Iowa, died Sunday, November 12, 2006 at Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield, Iowa. He was born the son of James Pearl and Dona(Awmiller)Kirby on January 10, 1924 near Dean, Iowa. He graduated from Moulton Community Schools in 1942.
On July 17, 1945, he was united in marriage to Vivian LaVonne Wintermote in Ottumwa, Iowa. Bernard ran a Maintainer for many years for Appanoose County.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Vivian Kirby on October 15, 2006; brothers, Ralph, Ernest, Ora and Kenneth Kirby; and an infant grandson.
Bernard is survived by: his daughters, Shelia Lowe and her husband, Jerry of Centerville, Iowa and Cindy Forsythe and her husband, Dennis of Norwalk, Iowa; a son, Randy Kirby and his wife, Char of Moulton, Iowa; a sister, Fleta Seibert of Moulton, Iowa; Seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 10 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton, Iowa with Rev. Jerry Weller officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton. Visitation will be held 1/2 hour before services at the funeral home on Tuesday. Memorials can be made to First Responders in Moulton.

Mrs. Wintermote was formerly employed as a clerk in the bakery department at Econo Foods.
She was born on Jan. 29, 1931, in Bloomfield, Iowa, daughter of Edward and Freda (Grant). She married Richard Wintermote on Feb. 15, 1948, in Bloomfield, and they moved to the Dubuque area around 1954.
Surviving are her husband, Richard J. Wintermote; three daughters Pamela Mickelson, and Marsha (Richard) Chapman, both of Dubuque, and Sandra (Jim) Griebel, of Davenport, Iowa; a son, Ronald G. (Theresa) Wintermote, of Dubuque; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty (Marlin) Schwartz, of Peosta, and Fern (Wendell) Warner, of Fairfield, Iowa.

Lawrence was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Old Times Barracks.
He passed away November 18, 1970 in Riverton, Wyoming and is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery. Survivors included his wife Eugenia; two sons, Varnard and Gene of Riverton; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Jenie) Miller; a brother, Joyce Wintermote and ten grandchildren.

4 Elsworth Vernon Wintermote was born to Martin Leonard and Semira (Cemira) Ann Dorothy Wintermote on Aug. 1, 1888 in Chambers, Nebraska. He married Rachel Maud Ballantyne on September 28, 1910 in Chambers, Nebraska. They had two children in Chambers, Nebraska: Leona Elnora born April 12, 1911 and Lester Clarence born July 5, 1914.
In 1916 they moved to Wyoming and homesteaded 15 miles east of Douglas, Wyoming. Another child, Zella Myra, was born January 6, 1917 in Converse County, Wyoming.
Elsworth and Rachel ranched on the homestead until his retirement when they moved into Douglas and cared for their three grandchilren who had lost their mother (Leona Tiedt). Their son, Lester, took over management of the ranch.
He was survived by his wife, Rachel; and daughter, Zella Ratliff and several grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his daughter, Leona Tiedt.

3 Cemira (Semira) Ann Dorothy was born January 9, 1862 in Blakesburg, Iowa to Charles Dorothy and Margaret Way. She married Martin Leonard Wintermote (Wintermute) June 22, 1879 in Ash Grove, Iowa.
Martin and Cemira moved to Holt County, Nebraska in the early 1880s. Two children were born in Iowa: Chonella, 1880 and Lee Roy in 1881. Their third child, Arminta, was born in 1883 in Holt County, Nebraska. She died at the age of 4 years. Other children born in Holt County were: Elsworth Vernon, 1888; Florence Golda, 1894; Lawrence Audra, 1895; Clarence Everett, 1897; stillborn baby 1900; and Joyce Leonard, 1902.
Martin and Cemira moved to Converse County, Wyoming in 1915 and homesteaded 15 miles east of Douglas, Wyoming.
Martin's health began to fail in 1928 and they moved into Douglas. He suffered a fatal illness February 12, 1932. Cemira stayed at her home in Douglas for a few years, but her last years were spent with sons Audra and Joyce, who lived west of Riverton, Wyoming. Cemira passed away March 8, 1940 in Fremont County, Wyoming. She is buried in Douglas at the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Cemira's information was obtained from family members, her obituary in the Chambers Sun, Chambers, NE March 14, 1940 and her obituary in the Douglas Enterprise, Douglas, WY March 12, 1940. It is submitted by her great-granddaughter, Betty Alberts.
