During and long after the American Civil War, Michigan was a frontier state. People from all over the east moved west to settle in the vast farm lands of Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, and other Mid-Western states. So to find soldiers from other states isn't uncommon. This mans military grave says, Warren Britton. He served in Company F, 5th New York Artillery. He served in this regiment during this civil war and like most moved out there after it ended.
