OBITUARIES

Ronald Snover Lee's life revolved around his hometown community of Springville, Pa. He gained the respect of friends, neighbors and business associates through honesty and years of hard work.
Mr. Lee, a winter visitor to St. Cloud since 1981, died Thursday. He was 80 years old.
Richard Serfass, superintendent of the Elk Lake School District in Montrose, Pa., knew Mr. Lee very well. Mr. Lee had been a member of the school board for 25 years through the 1940s, '50s and '60s.
''Ron was on the board during some very trying times here. The main thing was when the state mandated a jointure. We had many small schools here - seven municipalities - that had to be joined into one large school. He helped us get through all that,'' said Serfass.

Mr. Lee - always the businessman - had once owned a grocery store and was the founder and owner of Lee & Son Furniture Store in Springville. He sold the grocery store long ago, eventually selling the furniture business to his son, Donald, when he retired.
His free time was almost always spent helping the community. He was a member of the Montrose Lions' Club and a member of the Springville Volunteer Fire Department. Serfass said that Mr. Lee spent a lot of time trying to raise funds for community activities.
''He helped get softball leagues set up around here, and, through the fire company, helped get a community softball field built.''
Mr. Lee lived next to the United Methodist Church in Springville, where he was a member. A lot of his time and energy were also spent on the church; he seemed to have a way with fund-raising and getting things accomplished throughout the community.
''He formed a foundation for what we are today,'' said Serfass.
Survivors include: wife, Rhea, Springville and St. Cloud; sons, Donald, Springville, David, Las Vegas, Nev., Danny, Reisterstown, Md.; daughter, Myrna Corson, Charlottesville, Va.; nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held this week in Montrose, with burial in the Jersey Hill Cemetery, Auburn Township, Pa.
