Susan C. Orpen, 96, formerly of Portland, PA, died on February 17, 2009, at Warren Haven Nursing Home, Mansfield Township, NJ. Born: In Columbia, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Clark and Rebecca Belle Chamberlain Crisman. Personal: She was a graduate of Belvidere High School. She was a bookkeeper and had been employed by the Warren County Domestic Relations Department, Court House, Belvidere, for 26 years, retiring in 1977. In her younger years, she played basketball with the Mt. Bethel Apollos, and was a member of a bowling team for many years. During her retirement, she made quilts, afghans, and other crafts. Memberships: She had been a 50 year member of the Columbia United Methodist Church, before transferring her membership to the Portland United Methodist Church upon her move there in 1977. She was also a member of the Portland Senior Citizens. Survivors: A son, William and his wife Jane, of Columbia; two grandchildren, Michael Orpen Sr., of Stroudsburg, and Jennifer Mooney of Knowlton Township, NJ; four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Emily Iacovone, Michael Orpen Jr. and John Mooney. She was predeceased by her husband, Erwin in 1976. Also, by three brothers, Walter, Ernest and Russell Crisman. Services: Will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 20, at Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Rt.94, Blairstown, NJ. Visitation, one hour prior to service, from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
