Rockford - Martha Margaret Ryan, 97, passed away on September 18, 2011 at Wesley Willows after a short illness. Born June 9, 1914 in Rockford, daughter or William Clyde and Nellie (Mills) Ryan. Employed 21 years as an executive secretary at Amoco Chemicals Corporation, Chicago, retiring in 1979. Since 1981 she has pursued genealogy and has published 6 books on her family tree in addition to “Aunt Martha’s Memoirs”. Her paternal great grandparents, William and Nancy Carroll Ryan, immigrated from Ireland to the Mohawk Valley, New York, in 1839, and settled in Rockford in 1854 with their 7 children. Martha was a member of Second Congregational Church, former member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants and Daughters of the American Revolution. She graduated from Rockford High School Class of 1932 and Browns Business College in 1933.

Survivors include sister, Harriette (Gilbert) Morris of Rockford; nieces and nephews, Cynthia (Tom) Tuohy of Columbus, Ohio, Scott (Becky) Morris and Susan Morris, both of Rockford, Robert (Ann) Kronemyer of Elkhart, Indiana and Katie Kronemyer of Tucson, Arizona; grandnieces and grandnephews, Lesley and Ryan Tuohy, Amy Kronemyer, Galen Kronemyer and Julia Morris. She is predeceased by sister, Kathryn Kronemyer and nephew, William Kronemyer. A special thank you to the entire staff at Wesley Willows and Northern Illinois Hospice.
