3 Irene was lass than two years old when her mother dies and she lived for some time with some of her father's people and later with her father when the family moved to Ingersoll. After attending school in Ingersoll she apprenticed with her Aunt Agnes Gerhard in Delhi, learning the Tailoring and Millinery trade. She later moved out west with some of the family, possibly Tressie Whitehead, her aunt. She met Ed Dutton in the west and after their marriage they farmed in Saskatchewan. After a few years they returned to Ontario, to Woodstock, where Ed's family lived. After her children were grown she worked for some time in the alterations department of John White Co. Store and when it closed, at the Oxford Regional Center in the sewing room. In Woodstock they lived on John St., next door to a small Baptist Mission, and she became very involved in the work there, teaching Sunday School, etc. She became a member of First Baptist Church and active in the Women's organizations there as well.

2 Edward Dutton was an ardent Naturalist, liking all phases of the outdoors, including, hunting, fishing, bird watching, and hiking. He was a member of the Fish and Game Society. From Woodstock, he met Irene from Ingersoll, out west and the first few years of their marriage were spent in Saskatchewan. In 1923 the family, which now included three children, returned to Woodstock. He worked for the Gas Company as a Meter Reader and for some time ran the Boat House at Southside Park. Another pastime which he enjoyed was working with young people and each summer he spent some time at Fisher's Glen on Lake Erie.
