His dying request was to be buried beside his secon wife who had died in Ohio, but wife number three had him buried near his late residence. Several years later his children moved the remains and placed them beside his second wife. John Wintermute was a Baptist Preacher, but further than that we know nothing more than that he was of considerable repute. He was also Worshipful Master of Farmer's Lodge Number 14, Free and Accepted Masons for the years 1804 and 1807, in Wantage, New Jersey. He was said to make up with fervor and dedication what he lacked in oratory skills.

MARY COLE WINTERMOTE OBITUARY
Mary Cole Wintermote, was borne near Sharpeye, Darke County, Ohio, October 19, 1835, and died at the home of her son, Charles G. Hoover, at Albia, Iowa, August 7th, 1914, aged 78 years, 9 months and 18 days. She was one of ten children, all of whom have passed on before except two, M rs. Marilda E. Lott, and Mrs. Julia Kershner, of Iowa.
She was married to Ferdinand Hoover May 1, 1856. Three children were born to them, two of who died in infancy, Wm. A. Hoover of Gibson City, Il., surviving.
In August, 1866, she was married to John C. Hoover. Two children were t he result of this union, namely Charles G. of Albia, IO, and John Lewis of Shelbyville, Ill.
She was again married in 1880, this time to Dennis Druley, of Boston, Ind., who preceded her in death October 1912. After his death she spent her time with her children in the West.
She was a member of the Christian Church at Coletown from childhood, and what was better she was a devoted Christian woman, and was in constant spiritual contact with God and Christ. After her marriage to Brother Druley, she became a charter member of the Christian Church at Boston, Wayne county, Ind., where she retained her membership until death. He leaves one sister, three sons, one step-grandson, Carner N. Druley, whom she raised from infancy, seven grandchildren, one great grand-child, and many other relatives and a host of friends who sincerely mourn her depar ture.
Her body, accompanied by her three sons, was brought to Greenville, O., and taken to the home of her nephew, Rev. H. L. Lott, at 718 Central avenue. Funeral services were held in the First Christian Church of Greenville, O., conducted by Rev. C W. Heoffer, of Richmond, Ind., assisted by Rev. Frankie I. Keys, of Winchester, Ind., and Rev. H. L. Lott, of Greenville, O. The remains were buried in the Sharpeye, Cemetery.

Abigail Tingley, a daughter of Joseph and Christeen Tingley, was a widow of Rev Thomas Casad, and mother of Lydia, when she married Rev John Wintermote in 1811. The marriage with Rev Wintermote brought no additional children, but Abigail, as step-mother, raised at least three of Rev John Wintermote's children: Eliza, Fanny, and Charlotte, along with her Lydia. 1910 Wyoming Census, Upper French Creek-Precinct 17 (Wyoming Soldiers and Sailors Home) has Leonard D. Wintermote living.

Eliza Wintermote was a daughter of Rev John and Appolina (Ploney) Westfall, born in Wantage, New Jersey. She came with her family to Greenville, Darke County, in 1820 and married Hiram Dean (by her father, Rev John Wintermote) on May 27, 1824. Her sister Charlotte married Hiram's brother, John.
Hiram and Eliza had four children: Henry, Jane, John, and Benjamin Franklin. She died around the time of this last childbirth.
According to "The Wintermute Family History" Eliza's grave is marked by a rough stone (nothing written on it), near her father's plot. Will has her name as Eliza Dean.

Obituary of John (Wesley) Wintermote- Provided by Naomi Brown
John Wintermote was born near Dayton, Ohio December 1, 1824 and died March 27, 1899, aged 74 years, 3 mo., 26 days. He came to Iowa in 1855 and purchased his present home site in David County, Iowa (Mt. Zion District) where he has since resided. He was married to Martha Ann Dunn, Randolph County, near Winchester, Indiana on October 30, 1856. He brought his bride to his Mt. Zion home (south-west of Ottumwa, Iowa).
He leaves his wife and five children. John Wintermote joined the Mt. Zion Methodist Protestant Church 1860 and helped found and was a charter member. At the time of his death was a pillar and faithful member of the Mt. Zion Church.
Funeral servicews were held at the Mt. Zion Church, the beautiful church he loved so well on March 29, conducted by the writer to a large and sympathizing congregation. Thus a good man has gone to his reward.

Hiram was the son of Matthias and Jane (Hedges) Dean, born on August 29, 1799, in Wantage, New Jersey. He was a middle child of five brothers: John, Aaron, Daniel, William, and Matthias; and five sisters: Jane, Margaret, Mary, Phoebe, and Rachel.
When Hiram was a child, he traveled from New Jersey to Ohio with his family and other neighbors and friends, including the Wintermotes. They settled in Greenville, Darke County, where the family farmed and ran a mill. Hiram is listed in the 1820 census in Greenville, Ohio.
Hiram married Eliza Wintermote on May 27, 1827. She was daughter of Rev. John Wintermote, a Baptist clergy. So her father officiated the wedding and also to her sister, Charlotte who married Hiram's brother, John.
Hiram and Eliza had four children: Henry, Jane, John, and Benjamin Franklin. Eliza died in 1840, possibly from childbirth. His parents died the next year.
Hiram married Margaret J. Burr on Dec 17, 1846 in Greenville, and they had eight children: Oscar, Margaret, Aaron, Jeanette, Laura, Susan, Rachel, and Hattie. The family moved further west in the 1850s while the family grew. Laura was born in Illinois, Susan was born in Missouri, Rachel was born in Iowa, and when Hattie was born, the family had settled in Kansas, where they remained.
He was listed in the 1860 census at age 65 with his wife Margaret (age 42) and children ages 4-19. His age at that time was closer to 60.
