George Wintermute husband of Rose Mae not found in 1930 census as yet.
In a family history done by Edna Wintermute in Sept 1978 he is referred to being of Springfield. He had a daughter in Deckerville, Sanilac County, Mich (Corner garage).
About 1940 his wife and several other children were killed when a boat they were on exploded at Lexington, Sanilac County.
A "George Wintermute" died 28 June 1961, likely at Deckerville *. His wife was Beatrice McVittie of Deckerville whom he married at Port Huron on 21 April 1932 at Deckerville.
Beatrice died age 79 on 3 June 1989 at Deckerville, survivors 20 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Was she a second wife or is this a different George Wintermute?

Referring to his son John's attempt to cross the border at Sarnia in 1933, George was apparently living apart from May. She was shown still living in Lexington, Michigan. He was living on Christina Street in Sarnia, Ontario. Do not find him in the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid which might indicate he had died in Ontario but that is really no help in indicating for sure whether or not he had. He was born 22 November 1889 at St. Thomas and died 18 July 1972 at Hamilton, also buried at Woodland Cemetery Hamilton. He may have married secondly to a Mable as when he died the next of kin in his burial records was listed as "Mable Love".
The Loves lived in many Ontario locations including Straffordville, Port Lambton, Wroxeter, Staffa, Huffman's Corners, Siloam (near London), Putnam, Woodstock, Brantford, Fort Erie, Hamilton and Ottawa as well as Regina Sask. They retired to Hamilton.

The 1891 census of Bayham, Section 3, page 7, lists John S. Wintermute, age 29, grain thrasher, wife Josephine age 24, children Abraham age 5 and Gertrude age 3.
The St. Thomas Directory of 1892-93 shows "John Wintermute works MCR House, 39 Fifth Ave". When his father Thomas died in 1911 he was living in St. Thomas.
Just when he went “West” and then returned (RGM) I do not know but in the 1901 census of Moose Jaw, South Assiniboia (now Saskatchewan) he was shown as John S. “Wintersmith” age 39, with wife Josephine age 34 and children Abraham R. age 15, Gertrude age 12 , Vera J, age 3 and Robert S. (not yet 1). The western adventure was not long lasted as the 1911 census of St. Thomas lists John S. Wintermute born January 1862 (age 48), wife Josephine born February 1869, children Abraham Roy born February 1886, his wife Grace born October 1887 (described as boarder), Vera Joy born May 1898, “Rosell” S. (Robert S.) born June 1900, Ruby J. born December 1902, and Charles M. born May 1905
In 1913 John lived at 56 Arthur Ave, St. Thomas. Most of the period from 1913 to 1947 he was a carpenter.
